Question #1: What were your biggest challenges prior to working with me?
Although I was a long-time lover of cardio, I had real difficulty keeping up with any kind of strength training program. I was sporadic in my efforts, and did not have the training or creativity to come up with workouts that were challenging and fun. I wanted to increase my strength and overall fitness, but I just didn’t know how to do it alone.
Question #2: How did your personal training sessions with me help you work through your challenges?
Working with Shannon has allowed me to become a lot more consistent with strength training in particular. Making appointments and being accountable to come to the gym and put in the effort has made a huge difference. I also enjoy strength training a lot more than I used to because of Shannon’s creativity and knowledge and ability to come up with a huge variety of workouts that never get stale or boring and are consistently fun and challenging.
Question #3: How did you benefit from personal training?
My physical strength and overall fitness and health has increased dramatically. I can do exercises now that I would never even have attempted 2.5 years ago when I started working with Shannon. Shannon has inspired me to love workouts that make me strong, and is always great at recognizing and congratulating me when I am able to lift heavier than before, and when there are changes in my body that show how much stronger I have become and where there was little or no muscle tone before. I recently moved houses and was amazed at how I was able to lift heavy furniture and boxes on my own without injuring myself.
Question #4: What is your life like now?
In addition to being stronger in general, I feel more confident in my body and my abilities. I stand up taller and feel more capable of looking after myself and others. I have a positive outlook for the future, because I know muscle tone and mobility are key to healthy ageing.
Question #5: What, specifically, was your favorite part of working with me, and why?”
Hands down, Shannon has the best, most positive attitude about her work. Her motivation style is encouraging and never demeaning or frustrated. I never thought I’d say that I look forward to getting up and hitting the gym at 6:00 a.m., even on the coldest and darkest of days, but I do, because I have so much fun with Shannon and genuinely enjoy her company.
